Peer-to-peer groups provide for a unique relationship in which a group of people who are experiencing similar experiences and challenges, come together to both give and receive help from one another. The Base community attempts to provide an environment where honest, interpersonal exploration will occur that will benefit all members. In order to create this supportive culture, there are certain guidelines that need to be agreed upon by each participant.
These guidelines are in addition to any service agreement that you made as an individual with individual members and partners of The Base.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Peer groups promote healing in community. These experiences are effective when individuals feel safe to share private information in a confidential atmosphere. It is important that every member of the group agrees to uphold the confidentiality of the therapeutic setting. Members agree to keep names, identities, and other personal information of group members confidential. In addition, unless there is explicit agreement by all parties, please respect the confidentiality of others members by refraining from communication in public or outside the group.
PARTICIPATION
Members of effective groups actively share thoughts, reactions and feelings during group meetings as a way of increasing their self-understanding and contributing to the personal growth of other members. To support that goal, facilitators will strive to establish and maintain a climate of respect within the group. Please know that you do not have to share to participate and no one will ever be forced to share anything that they are not comfortable sharing.
RELATIONSHIPS
Group provides an opportunity for learning about one's self in relation to others. While safety is a priority within the group setting, The Base is not endorsing safety of group members engaging with other participants outside the group setting.
By attending a group, you agree to participate within the above guidelines. Should it be discovered that you are in breach of any of the policies above, you may be asked to terminate your participation.
*** Starting 12/01/2025 ****
For all meetings and groups in-person at The Base, new attendees must be approved by the facilitator or director at least 48 hours prior to the group.
